This is a GREAT activity to do with teenage girls! I used to unify my cabins of girls together as a camp counselor with this activity.
(Example of my simple collage - you can definitely do more!)
All you need is:
Colored letter-sized paper
Glue stick
Magazines (appropriate)
Pens/Markers
Have girls chose whatever color paper they want. Have them write in the middle of their sheet (leaving room around the edges for cut-outs)
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful; I know that full well." - Psalm 139: 14 (NLT)
From there, give your girls time to look through and cut out things they like, or that help explain who they are. Have them glue their cut-outs around the verse they wrote on their sheets.
I had each girl hang up their collage by their bunks and told them it was a reminder that God created us all differently and beautifully. This is a great activity to remind us about acceptance of each others' differences.

Lunch Bag Books
I was introduced sometime ago to Lunch Bag Books.
You just take lunch bags and fold them in half.
Bind them together with ribbon or some sort of string. I used a torn bandana for this one.
I combined 2 pictures into one and cut them in half, so I could get 2 4x3 pictures in one. A full 4x6 won't fit on a page of the mini book.
Use the bottom of the bags as a flap in the book!
Where the bag opens, decorate a piece of card stock as it's own page and make it a pullout page.
And the back of it.
I did the lettering with my Cricut. Can't imagine how my life was before having one!
Another flap in the book (side 1)
Open the flap to find journaling!
I love using stickers in my scrapbooks, and this was definitely no exception.
I wrote fun notes and verses of encouragement to my grad!
The paper makes the page!
This paper made a fun girly page!
End the book with a meaningful note on the back!
These books are SUPER easy and fun to make! They are a great, personal gift for any occasion! Pin It

Smash Booking: A New Craze?
So I've recently been intrigued by this apparently not-so-new scrapbooking style called Smash Booking. I must admit, I am an avid scrapbooker who uses anything and everything in my books and receives some of the best comments and cringes from fellow scrapbookers who either admire or worry about my work. Smash booking, however is right up my alley.
I ran across many pins for this on Pinterest, and at first glance, my belief was the "slambook" you see on "Mean Girls". But upon further investigation, I saw it's a very creative scrapbook junk drawer for anything you want.
Too bad I didn't know about this before I began wedding/reception planning. I have a composition book I kept notes in, but definitely nothing as cool as this. I cut out tips for invitations, food, decor, favors, etc and kept them in a folder, but having a Smash Book to put them in would have been neat, plus I could have kept it for years to come. =) I might still make one.
Check out the Smash Book youtube link to educate yourself further about the book if you want.
Here are some of the cool lay-outs and inspirations I found on them too:
This is probably a hobby I'll end up getting into very soon. =) I could have a book for so many areas of my life. What a fun, way to journal and keep ideas and cool things you come across in magazines, or to keep movie ticket stubs, cards, whatever in! Pin It

There are some fun things sold for the Smash Book too. I'd probably use a lot of my scrapbook stuff I already have accumulated over the years. |
